'Zombieland' Gallery

Zombieland was released on Region 1 DVD recently and I’ve now got around to uploading caps of Amber playing 406 to the gallery. Her role is really small but very memorable and super funny. We tried to air on the side of caution as much as possible for spoiler purposes every past update, but the DVD has been out for a while now and besides I’m pretty sure all of your know that Amber plays a zombie. If you by some chance didn’t, I hope it won’t scare you off, and wish you’d still check out the film because it’s totally awesome and hilarious! Plus the fact that Amber would take on a role like this when she’s being offered so many parts is so cool and makes me adore her even more!

Amber was also in a good bit of the special features, including two documentaries (about the filming and make-up process) and a deleted scene. These are found on the single disc edition. I’m aware there is a two-disc version of the flick, but I haven’t got around to buying it yet. If any of you have this and wouldn’t mind contributing screencaps/videos of any additional Amber Heard material or just confirming if she’s in anything additional, contact us!

Clips from the DVD of Zombieland are coming soon – and yes I will be adding caps from The Stepfather in the coming days as well.

Enjoy the zombilicious Amber action caps! PS: Warning of bloody grossness in the caps if that kinda stuff makes you queezy!

'Zombieland'

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set a February 2 release date for the popular and hilarious Zombieland. Can the rules of Zombieland include awesome DVD extras? I think it can; Exclusive to the Blu-ray disc is Sony’s unique movieIQ feature and a picture-in-picture commentary track, dubbed ‘Beneath the Graveyard,’ which allows for access to behind-the-scenes footage, animatics and storyboards.

The disc will also contain commentary with Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg, director Ruben Fleischer and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. There will also be several making-of featurettes, including ‘In Search of Zombieland‘ which is a series of visual effects progression, deleted scenes and trailers. Nifty.

The DVD is set at $19.95, with the Blu-ray at $26.95. A UMD for the PlayStation Portable also will be available and the order date is Dec. 31. You can pre-order your Blu-ray copy of Zombieland right here.

And what of a possible sequel? Read on for some dish. Although Amber only is featured in a cameo scene, I’d personally love to see more adventures with the hilarious Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock!

'All the Boys Love Mandy Lane' 'The Stepfather' 'Zombieland' Articles

Bloody-Disgusting.com, my favorite horror site, interviewed Amber and you can now check that out in the press archive.

BD: Talk about filming the “buzzsaw pendulum” scene.

Amber: It was extremely difficult, so many days in that one attic and surrounding area. Tight quarters, and very dangerous terrain. A very strange process. And the saw itself was a real saw and very heavy, for when we were doing the scenes before it falls in our face. Then they put in a rubber blade, but the weight was still there. And then the saw above me was entirely rubber, and that was OK.

BD: Great. So where the hell is Mandy Lane?

Amber: That’s a good question! That movie is as hidden from my eyes as much as everyone else. Such a disappointment; I fucking LOVE that movie. And it’s a shame it’s been caught up in such distribution hell.

'The Rum Diary' 'The Stepfather' 'The Ward' 'Zombieland' Articles

Opening tomorrow is the horror/thriller The Stepfather. The film is about Penn Badgley’s (Gossip Girl) character returning home from military school and finding his mother living with a new boyfriend. As the two men get to know one another, Badgley’s character grows suspicious. As you might imagine, action ensues. Anyway, I got to speak with Amber Heard earlier today as she plays the Penn Badgley’s girlfriend in the movie. While readers of Collider know I prefer doing video interviews, Amber was only available for phoners, so that’s how this was done.

During our short conversation, Heard talked about making The Stepfather, doing a cameo in Zombieland (she played the hot neighbor in the beginning of the film), and she also talked about playing Johnny Depp’s girlfriend in next year’s The Rum Dairy. Our conversation after the jump:

'And Soon the Darkness' 'The Stepfather' 'The Ward' 'Zombieland' Articles

Being chased and terrorized by a rage-driven psychopath around and under a house would seem to be a pretty stressful situation, even if it’s just for a movie. But for Amber Heard, the young actress who co-stars in Screen Gems’ new remake of The Stepfather, it was all in a day’s work. “You know, it’s just like any aspect of my job,” she says of taking part in such cinematic mayhem. “It could be very weird, but because it’s so weird so often, it becomes very, very…unweird, if that makes sense. My job is funny that way, in that I come to set every day and there are plenty of crazy things going on. That’s not really one of them that sticks out.”

This statement won’t surprise anyone who has been following Heard’s career over the last few years. After attracting a wealth of positive attention in the title role of the slasher opus All The Boys Love Mandy Lane—albeit largely at festivals, since a commercial U.S. release remains stalled by distributor Senator Entertainment’s money problems—she has been all over the horror scene lately. She cuddles up to Jesse Eisenberg and then tries to eat his flesh in the current hit Zombieland, just wrapped a starring role in John Carpenter’s latest chiller The Ward and not only acted but served as a producer on another recently lensed redux, And Soon The Darkness.

'Zombieland'

Sony knocked out its competition this weekend with a one-two punch from Zombieland with $25 million at 3,036 and 3D toon Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which dropped to the second spot in its third frame with $16.7 million at 2,977 playdates.

Zomcom easily surpassed fellow Sony pic Meatballs, earning a weekend per screen average of $8,235 with its core aud coming from 58% under 25. Sony distrib chief Rory Bruer credited the pic’s comedic aspects as the driving force among its younger aud, especially stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg.

'Zombieland'

Zombieland makes it’s debut in theaters in about 3 and a half hours if you are on east coast. ;) The reviews are slamming in – and they are extremely positive! Here are a few. Be sure to go out and check out the film and let us know your thoughts on it and Amber’s little cameo. The film not coming out for you tomorrow? Be sure to find out the release dates!

From: Bloody-Disgusting.com

The replay value of Ruben Fleischer’s film is extraordinary. Unlike many films these days, I can see myself watching Zombieland on multiple occasions. Not only does it live in the same universe as Superbad, but it also has quite possibly one of the all-time funniest scenes ever thanks to Bill Murray (I’m going to leave this as vague as possible, go see it). Fleischer’s film is beautifully shot (his slow-mo sequences are stunning), engaging, funny, heartfelt and more importantly F-U-N. If you’re looking for a movie that has it all, Zombieland is a season pass worth picking up.
