William Hurt and Amber Heard have joined Zach Gilford in The River Why, an adaptation of the 1983 Sierra Club novel by David James Duncan. Matt Leutwyler is directing. The coming-of-age tale centers on a young man named Gus Orviston (Gilford) and his quest for an elusive rainbow trout, which is a metaphor for the man’s internal search for self-knowledge. Hurt is Gus’ father, while Heard is his love interest, a tomboy fly-fisher. Thomas A. Cohen and John Hay Osborn Jr. wrote the adaptation. Kristi Denton Cohen is producing. Lensing begins in early July in Oregon. Source: The Hollywood Reporter |

We’ve managed to obtain a special, vintage treat of Heard. A scan from the February 2006 magazine i-D. It’s one of my very favorite photoshoots and Amber was promoting North Country that year. She also spoke about You Are Here in which she says the part was wrote for her. This is the only time we’ve read anything from Amber about that movie and since the film has not gotten a release we’re itching to see this, check out the funny quote:

UTV Motion Pictures sets another benchmark for the Asian film industry with its first solo Hollywood film production titled Ex-terminators. Presently being shot in Texas, the film stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge, Matthew Settle, Joey Lauren Adams and Amber Heard. It marks the directing debut of veteran cinematographer John Inwood from the popular US award winning TV show Scrubs. UTV Motion Pictures has tied up with Michaelson Films for this project, which started shooting in April 2008. Ronnie Screwvala will produce the film along with Jay Michaelson, Lawren Sunderland, and scriptwriter Suzanne Weinert. Says Ronnie Screwvala, CEO UTV “Over the last few years, we have forged some great working relationships with the leading studios in Hollywood and with top acclaimed international talent. This has led to some unique projects such as The Namesake, I Think I Love My Wife and The Happening. We are now proud to announce our first independent production in the US. It’s a great script coupled with great talent behind the camera & front of it.” Ex-terminators is a dark comedy centering on Alex (Graham), a lonely accountant whose one act of rage results in her being sentenced to court ordered therapy. There she meets Stella (Coolidge), the owner of a small extermination business who uses her car as a weapon; and Nikki (Heard), a dental technician with the face of an angel and the mind of a sociopath. Together these women will form their own “silent revolution”, wrecking havoc on the abusive men in their lives. |
