Over the past few years, Amber Heard has made a name for herself in such films as Pineapple Express (Seth Rogen’s High School girlfriend), The Informers, The Joneses, Zombieland (she played the hot neighbor next door), The Stepfather, and Never Back Down. While she’s proven she can play the girlfriend and the hot neighbor, in director Patrick Lussier’s Drive Angry 3D, Heard is going to show another side: ass-kicking vigilante.

In the film, Heard teams up with Nicolas Cage after he steps in to help her out of a situation at a restaurant she works at and soon after they form a close friendship. Heard says of their relationship, “they become fast friends and form a bond and partake on this kind of supernatural evil-fighting journey together and they kind of become teammates.”

Back in early May, I got to visit the set of Drive Angry while the film was being shot in Shreveport, Louisiana. While studios usually wait till closer to release to let us post on set interviews, I’m giving Summit a lot of credit for letting us get a jump on Comic-Con and lifting the embargo today.

Variety reports that Jennifer Lawrence will play Mystique in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: First Class. As you may remember, Amber Heard was previously considered for the role but perhaps she ended up turning down the film in the end.

In addition to the exciting panels, Summit Entertainment will once again have a booth set up in the Grand Hall at Comic-Con where the studio will showcase titles from its upcoming slate. Those who stop by will be able to answer a call at the Summit phone booth to speak live with Summit filmmakers and talent or customize a t-shirt at the live t-shirt press. In addition, the prize wheel never stops spinning with thousands of promotional giveaways and exclusive prizes to win throughout the convention!

Fox Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($22.98) and Blu-ray ($24.99) releases of The Joneses, which stars David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Amber Heard. Each will be available to own from August 10. The first two images from The Rum Diary, which stars Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, Giovanni Ribisi and Aaron Eckhart, have debuted. Unfortunately, we do not get to see Amber herself in the images but I find them extremely exciting either way! I really can’t wait to see Amber in character too, of course.

Production Weekly is reporting that both Amber Heard and Rosamund Pike are being considered for roles in X-Men: First Class.

MovieWeb.com’s report last week indicated that Pike could be gearing up to play Emma Frost, but this new story reveals she’s actually up for the role of Moira McTaggert, Professor X’s assistant. The site reports that there is “strong interest” from the studio for both Pike and Heard, who would be playing a young Mystique.

X-Men: First Class comes to theaters June 3rd, 2011 and stars James McAvoy. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will see the X-Men characters in their younger state. In the 2000 films, Rebecca Romijn portrayed the role of Mystique. We’ll keep you updated on this rumor as it progresses.

Amber Heard has revealed she had a blast shooting a new action movie with Hollywood star Nicolas Cage.

The Pineapple Express actress – speaking at a special charity poolside party in Los Angeles – said the pair just finished filming Drive Angry.

She explained: “It’s an action movie done by Summit – myself and Nic Cage, you know, save the world in a great classic car!”

“I shoot a few guns along the way, it’s good!” Amber added.
