Unfortunately I can’t say that I loved ExTerminators; it simply wasn’t as funny and edgy as I hoped for it to be. However, the cast was great and there is some fun scenes. Amber Heard as Nikki is absolutely the highlight of the film and I think I can say this without being too biased. She has the funniest lines and her delivery is priceless! I also loved Nikki’s look and wardrobe. Even though the film is not a masterpiece, I think it is a must see for all of Amber’s fans! I just hope it will actually get a release and proper promotion soon.

Spain’s 6 Sales has closed deals with Ascot Elite for Germany, Four Corners in Benelux and Horizon One in Australia for comedy ExTerminators which stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge and Amber Heard as three women who meet in an anger management class.

Indian powerhouse UTV has resolved to handle the US distribution itself on the English language comedy which marks UTV’s first independent US venture. It was produced by UTV in association with Michaelson Films and will be released in the US later this month.

6 Sales also closed deals in Russia (CP Digital), Romania (Pro Rom), Poland and Czech Republic (Peekshill), Middle East (Falcon) and Israel (DBS).

UTV Motion Pictures has signed a foreign sales deal with Madrid-based film sales company 6 Sales, for ExTerminators, the first independent Hollywood venture of the Mumbai-based integrated media company. Through its foreign sales partner, UTV has inked distribution deals for Romania, Benulux and Middle Eastern territories.

The film, a dark comedy, is directed by John Inwood and stars Heather Graham, Jennifer Coolidge and Amber Heard. It is about Alex (Graham), a lonely accountant whose sole act of rage results in her being sentenced to court mandated rage therapy. There she meets Stella (Coolidge), the owner of a small extermination business who uses her car as a weapon; and Nikki (Heard), a dental technician with the face of an angel and the mind of a sociopath. Together these unlikely friends form their own ‘silent revolution’.

Though it’s a dark comedy Exterminators actually comes off pretty light. It shies away from actually showing us most of the grisly murders and the few we do see are free of blood. It’s not a horror movie, more a relationship movie about three women hanging out, drinking martinis, oh and occasionally killing guys somewhere off camera. Alex is clearly the center of the movie, leaving her more interesting murderous friends as underdeveloped stereotypes, and we’re with her as she blinks into the camera and moons over the perfect guy.

I was actually impressed with most of the acting in the film. And, I gotta be honest with you, I thought this movie was going to suck. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I found my self laughing out loud a few times.

Favorite line? As Jennifer and Amber’s characters walk into the Herb Bar (located on Mary just off of Congress) a woman exits and Jennifer says, “I think she douched with patchouli.”

It appears that none of the cast members attended the premiere of ExTerminators at SXSW. I did manage to find what appears to be the first review of the film at AvClub.com. Unfortunately, the review of the film is not entirely positive and it receives D+ as its grade but Amber Heard is given praise for her performance.

The bright spot is local actress Amber Heard (Pineapple Express), who has one of the movie’s best scenes, and shines as a genially psychotic young floozy. But she’s not enough to save the film, which is a chick flick dressed up like a black comedy and isn’t very good at either.

You can check out an awesome teaser for the film on the SXSW website and read the official synopsis under the cut. I think it is safe to say that this role is something totally new for Amber and I love the look of her character. The teaser looks killer – no pun intended!

The world premiere of Ex-terminators will take place at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. It will screen in the Lone Star States category. The festival will run between March 13-21, 2009.

Things are a little quiet in the Amber world at the moment as she is taking a well deserved rest from the spotlight. The River Why has wrapped filming and is currently in post-production. The Informers and Ex-terminators do not have release dates yet but The Stepfather will be out in the US on October 16, 2009.

A YouTube user has uploaded a trailer for one of Amber’s early, rare films, called Price to Pay. Check it out under the cut… Amber looks uber gorgeous! Hopefully this one will be available on DVD sometime soon!
