"I think that the injustice of people staying in the closet is more than I can bear with a clear conscience and I couldn't sleep at night if I was a part of that problem, if I was part of the lies."

Amber Heard is lending her support to the NOH8 Campaign. Her striking photograph is available on our gallery now. I think it’s really inspiring that Amber has become so open and such an advocate for equality these days, I truly commend her for it!

On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the GLBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.

The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8? painted on one cheek in protest. www.noh8campaign.com

Amber is continuing help with her support for marriage equality as the other day she attended a Prop. 8 Rally at the Corner of Santa Monica Blvd and San Vicente Blvd in West California. Amber Heard and Tasya van Ree join other human-rights activists to protest the stay on gay marriages in the state of California. “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied

Earlier yesterday, Amber Heard helped Yo Gabba Gabba! (children’s program) build a home for Habitat for Humanity on in Lynwood, California. Amber has been busy here lately and it’s wonderful seeing her be active in various organizations so much. Check out a handful of images in the gallery!

Nearly 2 billion people around the world live in slum housing and over 100 million are homeless. Habitat for Humanity is needed to help eliminate poverty by providing simple, decent shelter to those in need. Homeowners and volunteers build under trained supervision.

Target Corporation issued an apology yesterday over its $150,000 contribution to MN Forward, which is running ads for Tom Emmer, a Republican candidate who opposes same-sex marriage. According to AfterEllen, who interviewed Tasya van Ree (who was also co-hosting the protest with Amber), the protest has since been called off.

Also you are probably well aware that Proposition 8 has been deemed unconstitutional and in violation of the protection clause of the 14th Amendment. We are sure Amber is very happy – as are we! – about the overturning since she’s been an active supporter of equality for Californians.

Amber Heard is organizing an impromptu gathering to promote the Target/Best Buy boycott in response to their support of anti-LGBT political candidates.

Target has publicly given over $250,000 in campaign donations to very anti-LGBT candidates, like Tom Emmer. They refuse to publicly retract that donation, match it to pro-LGBT candidates, or otherwise justify their actions. Given the location of the Target/Best Buy in West Hollywood, we have a unique “home field advantage” to gather support and inform a very pro-LGBT community of these circumstances.

Show your support for equality with Amber this Saturday, August 7th, from 1pm-4pm. The event will be held on the sidewalk outside of Best Buy in West Hollywood, CA. (Corner of Santa Monica & La Brea). You are asked to bring whatever materials (signs, pamphlets, etc) you can. Spread the word!

If any fan/supporter will be attending the event, please leave a comment below!
