Here’s a little catch up on Amber Heard’s upcoming projects: • According to Fangoria, And Soon the Darkness will see a theatrical release in February 2011, with a DVD to follow; Studio Canal, which co-produced and co-financed the film, is handling foreign distribution. • Film School Rejects is reporting that, according to Aaron Eckhart, The Rum Diary has also been pushed back to 2011. Eckhart sounded pretty unsure about the release date, and he had this to say:
• Check out the official Ward website at TheWardMovie.com – but you might want to stay away from the synopsis, which is pretty spoilery. • Lastly, The Joneses will be released on DVD in the UK on August 16. I have pre-ordered my copy and will be making DVD screencaps of Amber’s role as soon as I receive it. |

Anchor Bay Films has acquired North American rights to Marcos Efron’s remake of the 1970 British thriller And Soon The Darkness starring Amber Heard in a reported seven-figure deal. Odette Yustman, Karl Urban and Adriana Barraza also star in the story about two girls whose bike tour through a remote part of Argentina becomes a terrifying ordeal after one of them goes missing. Jennifer Derwingson co-wrote the screenplay with Efron. StudioCanal is handling international sales here and co-produced and co-financed with Abandon Pictures in the parties’ first collaboration. Karen Lauder, Lizzie Friedman and Deborah Marinoff Marcus produced and Heard co-produced. |

One of Amber’s upcoming movies I’m really looking forward to is And Soon The Darkness. While I didn’t love the original, I’m looking forward to some stunning locations and Amber is also taking her first stab at producing with this film. Today on the movie’s Facebook, a new still was added. I added it, as well as some behind the scenes pics to the gallery.

Being chased and terrorized by a rage-driven psychopath around and under a house would seem to be a pretty stressful situation, even if it’s just for a movie. But for Amber Heard, the young actress who co-stars in Screen Gems’ new remake of The Stepfather, it was all in a day’s work. “You know, it’s just like any aspect of my job,” she says of taking part in such cinematic mayhem. “It could be very weird, but because it’s so weird so often, it becomes very, very…unweird, if that makes sense. My job is funny that way, in that I come to set every day and there are plenty of crazy things going on. That’s not really one of them that sticks out.” This statement won’t surprise anyone who has been following Heard’s career over the last few years. After attracting a wealth of positive attention in the title role of the slasher opus All The Boys Love Mandy Lane—albeit largely at festivals, since a commercial U.S. release remains stalled by distributor Senator Entertainment’s money problems—she has been all over the horror scene lately. She cuddles up to Jesse Eisenberg and then tries to eat his flesh in the current hit Zombieland, just wrapped a starring role in John Carpenter’s latest chiller The Ward and not only acted but served as a producer on another recently lensed redux, And Soon The Darkness. |

The darkness has claimed two more souls.

I can hardly believe it! Miss Heard has booked herself another amazing sounding project! Amber and Odette Yustman have signed on to star in And Soon the Darkness, a remake of the 1970 British thriller being co-produced and co-financed by Studio Canal. Heard also is making her first foray into producer territory, acting as a co-producer on the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of commercials helmer Marcos Efron. How cool is that!
