"I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out. I think that organizations like GLAAD make that possible because if it weren't for opinions being changed, people being influenced, people being engaged to do the right thing, then there would be no prerogative for anyone to come out." - Amber Heard

This Friday, Amber Heard stars in cult director John Carpenter’s mental asylum-haunted house thriller The Ward – but her experiences there are nothing compared to the terror of squeezing into a bunny suit for her upcoming series The Playboy Club (debuting this fall on NBC).
“It’s very uncomfortable – I do not recommend it,” Heard tells PopcornBiz of her stint in the iconic 60s-era cotton-tailed outfit worn by waitress during the glory years of Hugh Hefner’s membership-only nightclubs. “I’m doing ‘Playboy Club’ because I love the pain of the corsets. No, I’m kidding: Because I’m having a good time, it’s the right project for me and a very interesting character. That’s why I work on any project.”

Despite earlier reports claiming that the stars of The Playboy Club were required to sign nudity clauses, might NBC’s ’60s-era drama about Hugh Hefner’s empire lack the titillation factor some are expecting?
Yesterday, during NBC’s annual presentation to prospective advertisers, star Amber Heard said the finished product may surprise some viewers. “I think because this is character-based — it’s a group of friends who become family within this interesting, rich setting — I think the plot and stars can’t help but take center stage. The racy material, you’ll find, is not all that racy,” she said.
The show, scheduled to air Mondays at 10 p.m. in the fall, centers on the opening of the first Playboy Club in Chicago. Heard says she was inspired to take on the show with a potentially controversial premise especially after researching the subject. “I was surprised by how Hugh, when he was branding this, used its progressive and racy nature to push the envelope and push society forward. He was the first to integrate his workplace, without the mandatory obligation to do so. Things like that, I appreciate. He did what he could to push the envelope, I hope we do the same,” she said, adding the caveat that she doesn’t expect them to take it too far.

I’ve uploaded the library with four new interviews with Amber, in which she discusses Drive Angry and her other upcoming and rumored projects. The NYMag.com piece is particularly interesting so be sure to give it a read!
All I can do is fight to confront the preconceived notions of what those labels mean or what roles I’m limited to. Just because I’m with a woman now doesn’t mean I’m less or more capable of changing the world.
I assume you’ve heard the rumor by now, so, Red Sonja? Is that something you’re interested in? Were you surprised to hear about it?
I was sort of surprised to hear about it, yeah. I think (producer) Avi (Lerner) even said himself, “She doesn’t know it yet.” So I was surprised, but also it’s something I’ve been looking at for a while and kind of interested in. I’m definitely interested in being a part of it, but that’s all I can kind of comment on right now.
I see you’re attached to a movie called The Uncatchable Cowgirl Bandits of Nottingham, Texas. Is there anything you can tell me about that?
It has quite a ring to it, doesn’t it? It’s a project that’s been in development for quite some time. I’m talking to the director, Jess Manafort, now, so all I can say is, “Stay Tuned.”

Amber Heard has said working with Johnny Depp was “a dream”.
The 24-year-old blonde beauty stars opposite the Hollywood hunk in The Rum Diary, based on Hunter S Thompson’s book of the same name.
Amber was sent out to film on location Puerto Rico, and said: “It was such an amazing experience – Johnny’s a dream to work with, and the director and the writer and the original book, they’re all so wonderful and being in the presence of such artists is rare even in this business and it was an honour.”
She added: “It will be out in September I believe and it’s got a phenomenal cast.”

The library has been updated with two new articles, in which Amber discusses Drive Angry and The Rum Diary. She also briefly discusses her sexuality, which seems to be of great interest to the press.
I really took on Piper. She’s someone I related to, so it was easy to let her get under my skin. Piper is not scared of anything, so why should I be?

I’m not one to talk about my personal life as I prefer to keep that as private as possible. Since that event, there has been a lot of media attention surrounding my relationship. It’s been frustrating as I don’t label myself one way or another – I have had successful relationships with men and now a woman. I love who I love, it’s the person that matters.

Check out another new interview with Miss Heard in the library, courtesy of Orlando Sentinel.
I didn’t anticipate jumping into TV, but this was so good that it got my interest. It’s a period piece and it was a truly special project to work on. I got into this business to visit strange worlds and be strange people, and a story set in the Playboy Club in 1960s Chicago is about a different as it gets. It’s very provocative and sexy – Civil Rights era, Women’s Lib is on the horizon, the sexual revolution is going on. It’s like The Sopranos and Mad Men Meet Moulin Rouge.

Hop on over to our library to read a new interview with Amber from ShockTillYouDrop.com, in which she discusses Drive Angry.
Because I am in this business and I read so many scripts, you would not believe how rare it is to read such a well-rounded – well, I don’t know if I’d call Piper that – such a real character. Piper’s a character with different layers. She’s a swearing, cowboy boot-wearing, chain-smoking, punch-throwing, Charger-driving motherf**ker, but she carries the heart of the film. I’m thankful I found Todd.

Amber Heard has admitted that, with fast cars, guns and her in tiny shorts, her new movie, Drive Angry 3D, may appeal more to a male audience.
The 24-year-old blonde beauty stars as the fast-driving heroine alongside Nicolas Cage in the gory action flick.
Amber said: “Yes it will appeal to the guys I imagine. It also has me in Daisy Dukes which maybe helps pull that audience in.”
But she added: “I would go see it, if I weren’t in it, because it has a lead female hero who is no victim, no damsel, she is no one’s romantic lead. She is truly a character unto her own and doesn’t need the support of other characters.
“She’s a bad a*s, Daisy Duke-wearing, Charger-driving, punch-throwing bat-out-of-hell – she’s a strong woman.
“And I think for a woman to go into a theatre to watch a woman lead a movie like that, I think that’s important. I think women will definitely get a kick out of this movie too.”
