What a lovely surprise! Amber Heard is on the cover of Ocean Drive magazine’s September 2010 issue. Scans, thanks to ‘picoloro’ and photoshoot have been added to the gallery – it is fabulously stunning as always! The article is quite short but have a read in our library. Lastly, you can also watch a behind the scenes video of Amber on the set of the shoot after the break.

Drive Angry is the latest 3D action-adventure from director Patrick Lussier and starring Nicolas Cage as Milton, a hardened felon who has broken out of hell for one last chance at redemption. Intent on stopping a vicious cult, led by Jonah King (Billy Burke), who murdered his daughter, he has three days to stop them before they sacrifice her baby beneath a full moon. During a press conference held after their Hall H panel at Comic-Con, co-stars Nicolas Cage, Amber Heard (who plays sexy, young waitress Piper) and William Fichtner (who plays an enigmatic killer known only as “The Accountant,” sent by the Devil to retrieve Milton) talked about the appeal of this project and what it was like to adjust their performance to the 3D technology while they were filming. Check out what they had to say after the jump: Question: Nicolas, as an actor, what was the appeal of this project? Nicolas: The first thing I would offer is that this is a movie that hails from ‘70s classic films, like High Plains Drifter, and other movies that were a major factor in my decision to become a film actor. And then, on top of that, it’s in 3D and directed by one of the pioneers in this day and age of 3D, with Patrick Lussier. He’s a purist, so I knew it would be in the camera and that I would have an opportunity to try to work with the 3D camera and see how that would inform my performance, with different body language and different ways I could play with the format. That was a big draw for me. What is the essence of this character for you? Nicolas: I try to keep my characters raising more questions than giving answers. I don’t want to leave too much on the table. I want you to have your connection and your secret understanding of the character, so I hesitate to talk too much about anything specific about him. |

There’s a twist and a half in The Joneses, an edgy new comedy starring Demi Moore and David Duchovny. The Joneses have moved in next door. They are beautiful, rich, and enviably kitted out. The neighbors want to be them, have what they have, and borrow a little of their perfection. However, illicit sex, commercialism, and power struggles crack the carefully groomed Jones façade. Twenty three year old Amber Heard, a rising star in Hollywood’s youth brigade, plays the sex obsessed fashionista daughter who beds men twice her age. Heard told Monsters & Critics that she immediately related to Jenn Jones. “The first act of the film you start to notice that something is really off. My character is desperately seeking affection. She realizes she’s just looking to understand love. She’s a vulnerable character that’s cheeky and tough on the outside. There were some layers there and I thought it was a real character that made sense not just to me but to a lot of girls.” |

As with almost every young actress in Hollywood Amber Heard is incredibly, devastatingly gorgeous. However, unlike many of her counterparts she is also incredibly poised, surprisingly eloquent, and most unexpected of all, quite well read. In our one on one interview, Heard discusses Drive Angry, her art, her desire to be more than just the bathing suit, her love of Bret Easton Ellis and Hunter S. Thompson, and speaks frankly about her distaste for the film adaptation of The Infomers. I just saw the footage and the concept art for Drive Angry and it looks ridiculously cool. Heard: It is. It’s really fucking cool. I was impressed by the scope. Up until the press release for Comic-Con I didn’t know this was supernatural. The press release just said that [Nic Cage] had broken out of prison, that he was an escaped convict. Heard: Yeah. |

Over the past few years, Amber Heard has made a name for herself in such films as Pineapple Express (Seth Rogen’s High School girlfriend), The Informers, The Joneses, Zombieland (she played the hot neighbor next door), The Stepfather, and Never Back Down. While she’s proven she can play the girlfriend and the hot neighbor, in director Patrick Lussier’s Drive Angry 3D, Heard is going to show another side: ass-kicking vigilante. In the film, Heard teams up with Nicolas Cage after he steps in to help her out of a situation at a restaurant she works at and soon after they form a close friendship. Heard says of their relationship, “they become fast friends and form a bond and partake on this kind of supernatural evil-fighting journey together and they kind of become teammates.” Back in early May, I got to visit the set of Drive Angry while the film was being shot in Shreveport, Louisiana. While studios usually wait till closer to release to let us post on set interviews, I’m giving Summit a lot of credit for letting us get a jump on Comic-Con and lifting the embargo today. |

Amber’s publicist has informed us that a retraction was printed as well as an apology from the Daily Mail which states that Amber in fact did not say anything negative about Scarlett Johansson in regards to the role of Chenault in The Rum Diary in the Live supplement. After reviewing the transcript, editors at Sunday Mail were surprised to learn that the writer had completely fabricated the story, especially in regards to Ms. Johansson. From DailyMail.co.uk:

Amber is featured on the cover of yet another magazine! This time she is on 944 Magazine this month. Although the images are not new for us, it’s great to see them in a higher quality. The article however, is new and a good little read. In it Amber discusses the chaotic and exciting times she’s had while on the road for work (like being held at knifepoint in a cab in Santiago, Chile!) and the little treasures of coming back home (who would have thought doing laundry would be missed?) and things like what she values in her house (fresh flowers are a must for her, “I never have an empty vase in my house. Roses are my favorite.”)
We’d like to pay a big thanks to Michele of LukeGrimes.net for sending us magazine scans. |
