According to Amazon.com, Pineapple Express will be released on R1 DVD on January 6, 2009. Apparently there will be three different editions available: Rated Single-Disc Edition, Single-Disc Unrated Edition and Two-Disc Unrated Edition + Digital Copy ($30.99). The Unrated Edition is a couple of minutes longer than the Rated Edition, totaling 117 minutes. No word on the extras yet but the Two-Disc Edition will hopefully be packed with plenty.

I’ve added a video and caps of an August 6th news segment from E!’ The Daily 10. Miss Amber was doing promotion for Pineapple Express. I love this movie! It’s so hilarious. James & Seth = ♥
Now I know the quality isn’t the best, but hey it’s our Amber!

Tropic Thunder beat out WB’s reining champ The Dark Knight taking the number one spot after a lengthy 4 week rein previously held by the Batman sequel. While Sony’s stoner comedy Pineapple Express, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, dropped from second to fifth place with nearly $10 million in its second weekend to bring its total to $63 million so far. Pineapple only costed about $27 million to make (not including marketing) and also took the record for biggest Wednesday opening (read entry).
1) Tropic Thunder - $25,812,796
2) The Dark Knight - $16,379,293
3) Star Wars: The Clone Wars - $14,611,273
4) Mirrors - $11,161,074
5) Pineapple Express - $9,808,295

Stoner movie Pineapple Express fell a few hits short of knocking The Dark Knight out of his Batmobile as the Caped Crusader powered to his fourth straight weekend as the box-office leader.
Sony Pictures’ R-rated comedy about a pothead and his small-time dealer on the lam from the law and a ruthless drug lord after witnessing a murder scored $22.4 million for the weekend, for a total of $40.4 million since opening Wednesday.
Strong numbers for a movie that cost about $27 million to produce, but not enough to overtake Warner Bros.’ Batman blockbuster, which pulled in $26 million for the weekend and boosted its domestic total to $441.5 million.
